We spent part of this past week meeting with the other missionaries from our church heritage that share the same government registration here in Mozambique. Part of the tradition of that meeting is a talent show.
This year, our family sang a version of 'My Favorite Things' from the Sound of Music, with the words changed to reflect some funny/difficult parts of life in northern Mozambique. While we certainly enjoy living here, with many of the challenges we've realized that if you can't laugh at them...you'll end up crying!
Enjoy,
Not Favorite Things
Coughing with pink eye while malaria stricken
Some of our truck pieces held up with string
These aren't a few of our 'Favorite Things'
City electricity stops working at all
Mold on the ceiling... allergies each spring
These aren't a few of our 'Favorite Things'
When I'm feeling sad
I try to not think of 'Not Favorite Things',
and then I don't feel so bad.
Waiting forever while merchants find change
Power surges... LAM... mosquito stings
These aren't a few of our 'Favorite Things'
Random holidays and stores are all closed
Visitors that come by at 5 in the morning
These aren't a few of our 'Favorite Things'
When I'm feeling sad
I try to not think of 'Not Favorite Things',
and then I don't feel so bad.
Genius. You guys should record!
